Gilad Atzmon's New Book: The Wandering Who? A Study Of Jewish Identity Politics

Jewish identity is tied up with some of the most difficult and contentious issues of today. The purpose in this book is to open many of these issues up for discussion. Since Israel defines itself openly as the ‘Jewish State’, we should ask what the notions of ’Judaism’, ‘Jewishness’, ‘Jewish culture’ and ‘Jewish ideology’ stand for. Gilad examines the tribal aspects embedded in Jewish secular discourse, both Zionist and anti Zionist; the ‘holocaust religion’; the meaning of ‘history’ and ‘time’ within the Jewish political discourse; the anti-Gentile ideologies entangled within different forms of secular Jewish political discourse and even within the Jewish left. He questions what it is that leads Diaspora Jews to identify themselves with Israel and affiliate with its politics. The devastating state of our world affairs raises an immediate demand for a conceptual shift in our intellectual and philosophical attitude towards politics, identity politics and history.

"Anonymous, TeaMp0isoN and many other hacktivists from around the world have united, we may not be able to stop the Zionist regime, but the least we can do is raise awareness and educate people by defacing Zionist websites, Operation Free Palestine is about educating the blind and terrorising the terrorist, the tables have turned, the time has come"

Alexander Baron: Gilad Atzmon wipes Israel off the map

Gilad Atzmon: Just came across this article here. Pretty funny, it seems as if our Hasbara's agent BOD & AZZ  are hitting the wall.

London - The Board of Deputies of British Jews claims to have had a complaint against Gilad Atzmon upheld by the Advertising Standards Authority. Naturally, the renegade saxophonist sees things rather differently.
Oy gevalt, that Atzmon is driving us crazy, if only he would stick to playing his saxophone and not interfere in little matters like Operation Cast Lead and the Flotilla Massacre. And how dare he write a book called The Wandering Who?

The problem with Atzmon is, well, there are several problems actually. He is not only a Jew and an Israeli but has a Masters Degree in Philosophy. He has also done his homework, although he appears to have a rather starry-eyed view of Britain as a nation that embraces freedom of expression. This is after all the country in which a woman was convicted of calling another woman a coconut, and where at the moment the morons and petty tyrants who control the Clown Prosecution Service have charged a woman with putting a golliwog in her own window, and a foul mouthed overpaid football player with using a racial expletive to another overpaid football player, an offence that required a telephoto lens and the services of a professional lip reader to frame.
The Board of Deputies of British Jews claimed/boasted - how about a nice neutral word for a change? - said, that the Advertising Standards Authority had upheld a complaint against Palestinian Mission UK recently concerning the content of its website, in particular some articles by Mr Atzmon.

Paul Balles: The doors of perception..

A FEW years ago, I was fascinated by this very short story.

One day a man opened the garage door, which startled a large butterfly.

It flew immediately to its perceived escape, the circle-topped window, where it frantically tried to exit through the invisible wall of closed glass.

The man raised the third car garage door in hopes of aiding its escape.

This caused the butterfly to fly higher and higher and become entangled in a spider's web.

Fearful that it would remain entangled in the web, the man selected a long-handled broom to assist him in escaping the tangled threads.

At this, the butterfly returned to furiously pumping his wings and banging into the glass, which was - in his perspective - the pathway of escape.

But he remained in his cage.

That story had me thinking about how much the butterfly's behaviour was a paradigm for human behaviour.

Not only butterflies have the problem of seeing new solutions. It's a challenge that applies to all creatures, large and small, including humans.

We only see what we want to see and we want to see what we already know.

Realisations like these have fed the spread of the clichŽ "thinking outside of the box".

This highlights the fact that it's nearly impossible to change others' perceptions of anything - of you or your favourite food, political candidate, TV programme or other pastime - without a complete change in the way they think.

Aldous Huxley, author of The Doors of Perception, wrote: "There are things known and there are things unknown, and in between are the doors of perception."

The significance of the story and Huxley's comment is illustrated by another Huxley note: "To travel is to discover that everyone is wrong about other countries."

For instance, the ideas you have about the Israeli-Palestinian problem are incomprehensible to writers and commentators who have never visited Israel and Palestine.

Even those who have visited Israel with guides will have their perceptions pre-ordained to fit those of the guides.

This explains why American Congress members who have been on sponsored trips to Israel, but not to Palestine, have opened the doors of perception to only Israel.

"There are quiet places also in the mind. But we build bandstands and factories on them. Deliberately - to put a stop to the quietness," wrote Huxley.

In short, we resist opportunities to see things differently, to expand our visions beyond the familiar.

It is impossible for arch-Zionists like Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz to see that Gilad Atzmon in The Wandering Who? is prying open visions of Jewish identities of which Dershowitz can't conceive.

What makes Atzmon's awakening so difficult for some to understand is that it takes you outside the ordinary open doors of perception.

In America, President Obama's major problem is also one of perception. He needs to recall the public's perception of him when they elected him. Instead, he has been trying to change others' perception of him by being the negotiator with people who refuse to negotiate.

Obama was elected by voters who have no power other than the power to vote. He has been trying to please those in power only to be perceived as a weakling by both those in power and the voters.

William Blake wrote: "If the doors of perception were cleansed everything would appear to man as it is, infinite. For man has closed himself up, till he sees all things through narrow chinks of his cavern."

We need to learn to see what others see, know what others know and feel what others feel.

Asa Winstanley-UK charity with Mossad links secretly denounced anti-Zionist Jews to government

Introduction by Gilad Atzmon: The following is Asa Winstanley’s  outstanding and comprehensive expose of the Ultra Zionist Community Security Trust (CST).  Winstanley explores the different and often secret smear tactics used by the rabid militant Zionist organisation. As it seems the CST disseminates false information-it produces ‘evidence’ of Holocaust denial and anti Semitism, it vilifies and harasses some Jewish  anti Zionists such as Naomi Wimborne Idrissi, Tony Greenstein, IJAN,  Torah Jews  and others most notably Sheik Raed Salah.

Yet, astonishingly enough. Wimborne Idrissi, IJAN, Tony Greenstein and some other Jewish anti Zionists use the exact defamatory tactics against some devoted solidarity activists and thinkers. Like the CST, Greenstein, Idrissi and IJAN also disseminate lies, they falsify documents, they engage in constant harassment of solidarity campaigners whom they don’t agree with.

Watch this: http://youtu.be/TNngjZ1COJA

As horrific as it may sound, once again we detect a clear and devastating continuum between the  militant Zionists and the so- called Jewish Anti Zionists AKA Anti Zionist Zionists.

Is it really too much to expect Jewish ‘anti’ Zionists to adopt some basic humanist manners? Is it really too much to expect them to be substantially different from Israel’s Sayanim?

EI exclusive: UK charity with Mossad links secretly denounced anti-Zionist Jews to government

Source: http://electronicintifada.net

21 December 2011
Raed Salah sits next to two anti-Zionist Orthodox Jews

The Community Security Trust sent a document to the UK Home Office titled “Neturei Karta & Raed Salah”

An influential UK charity denounced Jewish critics of Israel in secret reports to the government earlier this year, The Electronic Intifada has learned.

The Community Security Trust (CST) is known for its work recording anti-Semitic attacks and for security patrols at Jewish communal events.

But evidence uncovered by The Electronic Intifada suggests the CST works behind the scenes with an assertively pro-Israel agenda not stated in its charitable remit. There are also serious questions over the CST’s links to the government of Israel and, allegedly, to its intelligence services.

The Electronic Intifada contacted the CST and inquired about these points, but representatives of the organization declined to comment.

In a report sent to government department the Home Office, the CST denounced several “anti-Zionist British Jewish individuals and groups” as “extreme groups,” claiming they were “unrepresentative of the vast majority of British Jews.”

Dating from August, the report was primarily an attempt to help the government in its court case to deport Palestinian political activist Raed Salah. The report expressed concern that certain Jews had “voiced support for Salah,” recommending that the “extent of their credibility to speak on these issues should be considered.”

The CST denounced as “extreme” well-known Palestine solidarity activist Naomi Wimborne-Idrissi, the International Jewish Anti-Zionist Network and the anti-Zionist Orthodox Jewish group Neturei Karta. The report highlights that Wimborne-Idrissi is secretary of Jews For Boycotting Israeli Goods.

Use of the term “extreme groups” is significant. It’s a phrase the CST usually reserves for violent far-right groups such as the British National Party, the National Front and Combat 18; or for Islamic political groups like Hizb ut-Tahrir.

The CST sent a second document to the Home Office at the same time titled “Neturei Karta & Raed Salah” as part of a larger dossier. This four-page report suggests the group is guilty of everything from Holocaust denial to “defending” a 2008 terrorist attack against Jews in Mumbai.

Both texts formed part of the Home Office’s defense against Salah’s attempt to resist deportation. In September, a civil servant testified in court that the CST had been its “principal source.”

The full text of both secret CST reports can be read in the blog post accompanying this article.
